Blues fall short against Barnoldswick

Winsford United 1 Barnoldswick Town 2 WINSFORD United were left to rue missed opportunities as their recent revival stalled on Saturday.
Blues trailed by two goals before waking up though, Ashley Anderson converting a contentious penalty after Liam Garbutt had taken a tumble before Aaron Hollindrake doubled the visitors’ lead.
Ian Street’s men piled on the pressure after that, substitute Jamie Henders crashing a shot against the crossbar before turning provider for Richard Bailey to halve the deficit.
Andy Hurst seemed certain to score before he was hacked down by Russell Clarke, who escaped a red card, Daley Woods blasting the resulting free kick against the wall.
Their last chance fell to Henders but was unable to shoot before an intervention from Barnoldswick keeper Billy Carrington.
